Just fiddle a few kids and get on with your life. NOBODY goes to Thailand for any other reason.

I hope she likes rats.

That hotel has numerous bars. Plus at the prices they charge, they should have every cable channel.

But if you really want to get out, you could take a taxi to Silom and find a bar there

Joe, Didnt think there were would be West Ham fans working at a concierge in the hotel that would know. Thats why i posted a genuine post on here.

Not trying to impress mate, just asking a simple question.

Used to live in an apartment close to Bangrak, some great hidden places around. Queen of Curry next to bangrak market did decent..erm..curry. There's a chinese duck noodle place on the high street that's an institution.

Best of all, just next to the Shangri La is a row of street bars created for the tuk tuk & taxi private drivers of the rich westerners who spend more in one night on a hotel than they do on a months rent (their words). Beers are cheap, they're good lads and I'm pretty sure they'll put on the West Ham game for you (they did for me). A group of them invited me to join them (missus was shopping in the nearby Robinsons Plaza), ended up drinking with them for a few hours - one was an amateur bookie and they were all better, then placing the rolled up betting slips into a small hole they'd drilled into a wooden power line pole (betting is iliiegal). Must have gone through 3 litres of thai rum between us before it came to 7pm and they each to a man said their farewells before hopping into their tuk tuks or taxis to go and collect their customers from the Shangri La.

If you don't fancy that, just google sports bars in Bangkok and get a taxi there. Probably looking along Sukhumvit (remember one place called the Penalty Spot)m be aware that if you are a man on your own after 10pm, you will be pestered by ladies. Used to give me the right hump if my missus decided she couldn't be bothered to come out and I was trying to watch the game with a procession of "hello, you handsome, what your name?". 9 times out of 10 i'd just go back to the hotel or apartment and try to stream it.

Oh and while I remember, there's a bar called Jacks Bar just on the river next to the Shangri La, they rip off westerners left right and centre on food and boat trips, but generally they're nice folk and don't over charge on the beers. it's my favourite spot to drink in the city, proper rickety old place and you're literally on the river (no need to flush the toilet, the hole basically drops into the river).

Re: Newcastle game in Bangkok
No worries - get a street taxi and make sure they turn the metre on, if they say no, fuck them off. Don't get a taxi through the hotel, it'll be 10 times the price. Nowhere in BKK central is more than 100THB in a legit taxi when the traffic is ok. Also - well worth getting over to Khao San area, but just have a cursory wander along Khao San itself, the best places are on Rambutri which run parallel (if you reach a swensens ice cream place, you're going in the wrong direction, go back the other way - well worth crossing the busy road too and continuing, some great bars down that way and decent priced street food - no real risk of the shits, can recommend bars and restaurants if you like - just whomail me).

Try the "kiddy Fiddlers arms" if they don't have it maybe try the club "paedophillia"

If you want to hang out with Cheezey Bellend you'll find him in the "shemale saloon"

Remember to look for the adams apple.

Hope this helps.
